The 2010 Ham Lake Snowbowl is now history and as we look forward to our event recap, I can only reflect on all the positive things coming out of a community event like this. First, businesses and the Ham Lake Area Chamber of Commerce all put in a gigantic effort behind the scenes to make this event possible. Then there was Ralph, the grateful recipient of the car that Free2Be GAVE him to replace his other vehicle which was consumed by a fire. Also, there was the initiative by Quad Central Motorsports to partner with the Chamber and host our first annual ice fishing contest. I had numerous youthful contestants remark how they won something. The comment I remember most vividly was the one of the young lady who won her own fishing pole (in Viking Purple)! Thanks to John, Dan, and all the volunteers that made this possible. I stopped in to thank John on Monday and he was already making plans for next year’s event.
The list goes on; there was the broomball tournament, the dedication of the fishing pier to "Tony" Fitzloff, a fallen Anoka County Sheriff, the Winter Golf, dog sled races, rides, and Skijoring. WOW. I cannot wait until next year. Then there was the evening dance-music provided by Retro Six with dance lessons before hand with Shannon and Bill see them at www.shannonandbill.com . Thanks to the Majestic Oaks group (Dan and Sarah) for making this event a huge success.
I like to extend a very special thanks to U-Pull R-Parts as the major sponsor this year, and, of course, a thanks to all the other sponsors who participated this year.
Finally, thank you from all of us to Chris Mickman of Mickman Brothers who is the father of this event and continues to guide prod push and pull this event together year after year. Chris, thank you from all of us!
